Every one wants to inherit a better world and leave an even better world for their offsprings,
but to comes to doing something about it, many steps do not leave the start line due to the
scepticism" What can I do alone?"
There is no dearth of crises certainly- climate change, economic inequality, cries on women,
making children and elderly fend for themselves when they need familial and societal
protection the most are some instances which make us question why has evolution not
granted us the same empathy as it did technical skills.
The marginal utility of a single person's efforts towards the problems is as real as the
problems themselves. Our vision is to not change the world overnight, but to make people
believe that the target is well within the striking range. It will all depend on how bad do we
want it.
The last time the people of India decided to "Do or Die" the map of the world changed.
Marginal effort utility was the least of concerns in the minds of millions that rallied behind a
frail barely clothed man who chose to get killed rather than retaliate, to start a battle against
an empire whose sun never set.
We must never forget that one step forward for everyone means 1.3 billion steps forward for
the country.
Climate change is not merely an ecological phenomenon, and statistic representations of
change in average rainfall or molten ice caps are vital parts but not the total representation
of the impacts that it has on the earth. Extreme climate events have seen diseases emerge
and reach to places they were never before, issues with nutritional & livelihood security,
forced displacement, loss of cultural identity, etc.
It is evident that the most marginalised sections of the society are most vulnerable to the
effects because unlike the affluent, they cannot afford isolated spheres of security for their
families.
Similarly, even women are expected to bear the burnt more than men due to thir domestic
responsibilities that expose them more to the climate.
One less crushed plastic straw or one less glass of wasted water wont make the world
lighter with plastic waste , or make the world brim with potable water. But if people recognise
and appreciate the intent between these practices, it would soon get as ubiquitous as plastic
waste and water wastages well as to generate new ideas for solutions.
